Finni: Your money, your way

Posted by meeppupo

The problem is we all want to make manage our money and spending habits. But we often failed to.

This app gives you choices of different planning styles to allow you to make financial plan and create scenarios whenever you want to adjust it or purchase impulsively.

It allows prompted reflection by asking how you feel when you purchase, and how you feel now to help users understand and empathize with their own decisions.

It's unclear to me how would the app work? Is it directly connected to the bank account, or should I manually enter each transaction I make and include the "purchase feeling" as well?
I don't think people are ready to invest so much time into every transaction.

You could however make a Physical Card that you send your customers and then use that to track their spending automatically, you can use Stripe for that:

Thanks for your thoughts and reccommendations! That's precisely the reason I believe there is no app currently can act as money planner because transactions are scattered and you could not record transaction purposes automatically. But interestingly, as we talked to a few young students, they all talk about how they regret after overspending, and they wish they could be more disciplined. What I'm thinking of for this idea is that people might actually voluntarily want to record it because that's a pain point for them and there is no current sufficient solution on the market. I myself have to create my own financial management app with using a low-code tool.  — meeppupo If you need a low-code tool to build an MVP, I would recommend sktch.io, it's has a lot of features including database. You could easily spin a prototype to validate your idea fast.  — ybouane keyboard_arrow_up 1 keyboard_arrow_down

I'm interested in hearing more about the "Planning styles" you're thinking of. I think @ybouane's idea of integrating this through an actual physical (or virtual) card would be great. But for things like Amazon purchases, it won't work because on the credit card statement it just says "Amazon" so you won't be able to determine in what category that purchase is. Is it a toy, is it laundry detergent?

Thanks! I think you are absolutely right. The "planning style" I'm referring to is trying to address a growing concern among gen Z of liberating thoughts. Simply put, they don't want to just listen and follow. So I was thinking of how to help them formulate attitudes towards money independently. And the concept is allowing them to discover different styles, for example, save 50-spend 50, or YOLO (30-70) that essentially gives different scenarios to support their decisions of what to adopt rather than following one. But definitely needs more thoughts into the implementation!  — meeppupo keyboard_arrow_up 1 keyboard_arrow_down

I like this idea, people don't take the time to think about what they are purchasing and how it effects their budget.

The only problem I see is that you will have to find a way for people to actually take the time and read/ answer question because most likely people will just ignore the alert.

I second that.  — ybouane
